"Counter not visible"
 
   I finally got 3.40 up and running. Thanks to this forum. But now my counters show a box with a red x in it. What could be the problem?

   Look at the bottom of your config.pl for this:

And make sure that the info in place is correct. If not, fix it. that's your problem. Ofcourse "YOUR" & "USERNAME" is your info

   I tried that and it didn't work. None of the counters are displaying.

   I had this same problem! Go to your cgi-bin/auction/auctiondata/counters and change all the .cnt file permissions to chmod 666 (I hate that number).

It worked great for me, but my problem was a whole different story.

I am not 100 percent positive that this will work for you like it did me cause if your counters never worked that would be a different ball game cause the counters did work for me until yesterday when somehow all my data file permissions were reset, don't know how!

   Greg,

I checked your path by right clicking on the broken image tag and
it is
http://www.youbidfree.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.pl/cgi-bin/auction/counter.pl?/home/ubidfree/youbidfree-www/cgi-bin/auction/auctiondata/counters/mainpage.cnt

but I think it should be
http://www.youbidfree.com/cgi-bin/auction/counter.pl?/cgi-bin/auction/counter.pl?/home/ubidfree/youbidfree-www/cgi-bin/auction/auctiondata/counters/mainpage.cnt

do you see where the counter.pl? is in the second one? That's missing,
go to your config.pl file and double check this line

## path from your root directory, don't forget leading '/'
$config{'counterpath'} = '/cgi-bin/auction/counter.pl';

   Alright, here's what my permissions are exactly in my counters file. And the counters have always worked correctly with never a problem.
The counter folder itself....777
inside the folder:
1006586612.cnt...664
1009678111.cnt...644
1009767204.cnt...644
1012603265.cnt...644 (those are running auctions)
mainpage.cnt....644

This is what is there and like I said, I've never had a problem or ever had to change them. Not sure how, but hope it helps
